Last week, Griffin Bowls Club had success and proud moments on three counts.

Firstly, Danny D, Don R and Gordon C represented Essex against Norfolk, with Essex winning 90-72. The county representatives are growing at Griffin, which is reflecting the raising standards at the club on the competitive stages. Excellent work, chaps!

Secondly, Griffin hosted the ladies' Benevelent Trips, which saw 22 teams competing against each other. The teams were from Writtle, Silverthorn, Connaught, Buckhurst Hill, Woodford, Harlow, Dunmow, Wanstead Central and Griffin.

On a very hot and equally enjoyable day, full of games played in good spirit, Griffin (1) prevailed in the final following a stunning comeback to win 8-5 against Woodford (2). Alison C, Allison W and Maggie M will now represent Area D in the county finals day at Braintree BC on Sat 2nd August. Very well done to them!

Well done and thank you to all that helped with organising and running the day. It proved a huge success and was a great advert for Griffin Bowls Club.

Thirdly, and finally (pun intended!), Griffin Men had success again in the Headley Stearn, reaching the final for the second season running! Ken C, Andy B, Mark B and Gordon C beat Orford House at Loughton on Friday, securing a place on Fri 25th July. After finishing runners-up last year, the team will no doubt be determined for a positive outcome this time. Support will be appreciated on the day, at Buckhurst Hill BC, from 5pm.
